Thirteen hours is a long trip. My longest single flight was JFK to Jo’burg in late 96. 16 hours, two crews.

Down the coast of Africa the plane flew low and close to land. Our crew said local air traffic control was not reliable and the pilots were flying on sight!

On the way back we had to refuel in the Cap Verde islands. A tiny spec in mid Atlantic.

What amazes me about European cities is how those buildings were built literally centuries ago and they are still so sturdy and beautiful. North American buildings have NEVER been built like that. Planned obsolescence is a concept I have always hated, but it doesn't seem to have caught on to any extent in Europe. Britain is getting sucked into it a bit, but still not as much as North American cities have. And yes, I'm looking at YOU, Toronto, the capital of my province and Canada's largest city. Just another of the reasons I'd like to live somewhere in Europe before I shuffle off this mortal coil.

It really is amazing. The saying "they don't make them like that anymore" often isn't true. In this case, it absolutely is.

The condo towers in Toronto are really abysmal. But I guess they're the answer to strong demand?

Welcome back! beside no IFE, I hope the flights were great. I'm curious to hear more about them (maybe that's just me?).

I'd definitely like to talk about the flight. It's a long one and really not fun to get through. I'm not sure if anybody enjoys these flights?

Me too!

No on-screen entertainment or internet, whatever did you do? Good old-fashioned reading of a book? -that is actually my usual on long flights. Do you have programs on your laptop that you can type into and once you touch down into a place with wifi, it saves all your work?

I suppose it is neither here nor there since you are home now. Glad you are back! I cannot wait to hear about everything.

The posts will start flowing again early-to-mid week with lots of trip postmortem and a look ahead to what's in store!

I did some work, saving it to my device. But that hit a wall so I read a bit, walked around, stared out the window and at the seat in front of me. By hour 5 or 6 I was over it - lol.

Looking forward to the posts, as usual.

And I don't mean to laugh, but I was envisioning you and Melisse teaching some yoga to the other passengers. Was it a glitch there were no movies, or was that normal for that airline?

Yeah, I'm over it too and I was not even on that plane. ;)
