I finally feel like I’m able to give a good answer. In part because my partner and I discussed something closely related to this the other day. And I think the way we like to travel—and will travel this February to Spain and France—is a good way to approach Lori Ann’s request.
The key is to not travel like the typical traveler. If you do, you will have very little idea what it might be like to live in a place.
